| Though she hides her true nature behind a mask of playfulness, the Joker's moll, and frequent accomplice, Harley Quinn is almost as unpredictable and deadly as her infamous boss. During her internship at Arkham Asylum, The Joker was able to seduce the young Harleen into falling for him, enough so that she developed her own sort of alter ego to compliment the Joker, busting him out of Arkham Asylum as the newlly named Harley Quinn. Her love for The Joker is perhaps the strongest link to her normal, untainted nature, and yet at the same time it is the root of her instability. Harley Quinn is deeply in love with the Joker, despite the abuse she suffers at times at his hands. One could argue it's a form of Stockholm syndrome, how she argues away his reasonings for hurting her, how she steadfastly stands at his side no matter what happens. Even when she is pushed out of a window, and ended up in Arkham herself as a patient, all it took was a flower from her beloved "Mistah J" to win her back to his side, taking it as proof that he honestly, deep down, loved her. Often when she would grow mad, or distant with him, he would manage to win her back easily with a promise that with Batman alive they could not truly be together. Although her true personality has been heavily undermined and warped by The Joker, underneath Harley remains a sweet, lovable person with a brilliant mind. But she is nevertheless, just a little mad. |

| arley Quin was once a brilliant young psychoanalyst, Dr. Harleen Quinzel, until she was seduced by the Joker while doing her internship at Arkham Asylum. It was there where she met the Joker and understood his true potential as a person. The Joker listened to her and she in turn listened to him, believing his every word as something meant specifically for her, from him. A rare gift that led her to think he cared, truly cared. But The Joker wasn't meant for a life behind bars, and after a time Harley decided to do something about it. Renaming herself as Harley Quinn (to compliment his being "The Joker"), she helped him escape and joined his gang. She stayed, despite his abuses, hoping that at his side they would be able to destroy Batman and that in return he would settle down and spend the rest of his days with her and possibly even a bring aboard a family. Harley had always worked for the Joker, until she came across Poison Ivy. During an off-time with The Joker (After he tried to kill her in a fit of boredom) she was rescued and nursed back to health by Poison Ivy, who she developed a close friendship with. The two become sisters-in-crime by virtue of their shared hatred for male domination in the criminal underworld, and often Ivy seemed to take a "big sister" role with the younger Harley, trying to make her see the error of her ways in worshipping someone like The Joker. |
